Kenneth C. ’80 and Elizabeth K. Whitney
Ken and Liz Whitney are helping to create a welcoming home for Blue Hens of today and tomorrow. Liz and Ken created the Whitney Family Scholarship in 2005, and in 2011, the Whitney Family Chair of Accounting and Management Information Systems, currently held by Jennifer R. Joe. In November 2017, the Whitneys made a gift of $10 million to name the Whitney Athletic Center, the largest individual gift in Delaware Athletics history.
Ken is retired SMD of Blackstone. Before joining Blackstone in 1988, Ken was with Price Waterhouse Coopers, where he began his career in 1980 in the firm’s accounting and audit areas and later the tax and mergers and acquisitions groups. Since April 2013, he has managed an investment office focused on startup businesses and entertainment projects, where he is a Tony Award and BAFTA Award-winning producer. In 2015, he was honored with the UD Alumni Wall of Fame award.
Liz is a former actress whose resume includes roles in several musical theatre productions and popular television shows. She is currently on the executive board of the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Ken has been a member of UD’s Board of Trustees since 2007.
