David P. Roselle and Louise Dowling Roselle
David and Louise Roselle hold UD close to their hearts. For more than 17 years, from 1990 to 2007, David served as president of UD with Louise as his partner. The many accomplishments of the University during the Roselle tenure included additions of facilities and growth of University’s endowment by $1 Billion. In 2001, the Unidel Foundation established the Louise Roselle Fellow that honors Louise and her active interest in landscape design and renovation on campus.
In 2007, the Board of Trustees named David president emeritus and professor emeritus of mathematics. A year later David became executive director of Winterthur Museum and served in that capacity for 10 years. The David and Louise Roselle Center for the Arts, with facilities for the school’s music and theater programs, opened in 2006.
Louise (BA and MS mathematics) and David (Ph.D mathematics) are Duke University alums. The University of Maryland, Louisiana State University, Virginia Tech, and the University of Kentucky employed David Roselle prior to him joining the University of Delaware in 1990. Louise and David have served and continue to serve on a number of non-for-profit and for-profit corporate boards. In 2012, Delaware Today named Dave one of “The 50 Most Influential Delawareans in the Past 50 Years.”
