James C. Borel
Inspired by his 38 years of global work with the DuPont Company, Jim Borel and his wife, Marcia, created the Borel Global Fellows Fund at UD in 2014. Housed in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the fund brings graduate students from universities in developing African countries to the University of Delaware to enhance the quality of their research experience in agriculture.
At DuPont, Jim served as executive vice president, where his responsibilities included agriculture and nutrition businesses before retiring from the company in 2016. He received his bachelor’s degree in agriculture business from Iowa State University. He serves on the board of directors for the Renewable Energy Group, JUST Inc., Neogen Corporation, Farmers’ Edge and Borel Farms, as well as the advisory board for Sajjan India Limited. In November 2017, Jim was named a National Association of Corporate Directors Board Leadership Fellow. He serves on UD’s Board of Trustees as well as on the boards of the National 4-H Council, Farm Foundation and Alpha Gamma Rho Educational Foundation. He also serves as a foundation governor for the Iowa State University Foundation.
