Thomas D. Whittington Jr. ’69 and Marna Cupp Whittington ’68
Marna and Thomas Whittington established themselves as pioneers of business, ethics and philanthropy. Marna and Tom support the University with the Whittington Family Scholarship, gifts to the College of Education and Human Development and, most recently, by establishing the Whittington Graduate Fellowship and the Whittington Internship, both in the Biden Institute.
Until her retirement in January 2012, Marna was chief executive officer of Allianz Global Investors Capital from 2001. From 2002 to 2011, she was chief operating officer of Allianz Global Investors, the parent company of Allianz Global Investors Capital. She currently serves on the board of Macy’s Inc., Oaktree Capital Management L.P., Phillips 66, Afghan Women’s Council, Cloudnexa, Strategic Partnerships LLC and the Philadelphia Contributionship. She is also a trustee and vice chair of the Salk Institute of Biological Studies, as well as a board member of the Tower Hill School. In 2016, she was honored with the UD Alumni Wall of Fame award and was presented with an Honorary degree in 2017.
Tom is Partner of Whittington & Aulgur, a law firm focusing its practice on real estate finance and development. He was previously a deputy attorney general for the State of Delaware.
